A monthly round-up of appointments in the broadcast and media industry. Arkessa has appointed Samuel Staehle as its new regional director for Germany, Switzerland and

ESI Media, owners of the London Evening Standard, Independent and London Live brands, is making some key promotions within its senior leadership team as the business focuses on commercial growth.

Jon O’Donnell (pictured), currently group commercial director, is to take on a ‘significantly expanded’ role as managing director of ESI Commercial, leading all commercial activity including the newly launched events business, ESI Live.

Tim Kirkman, currently chief operating officer of London Live, will become managing director of the TV channel.

Arkessa has appointed Samuel Staehle as its new regional director for Germany, Switzerland and Austria.

Staehle will be responsible for ongoing business operations as well as overseeing professional services delivery, sales and managed services operations in the D-A-CH region. His career spans over various senior management roles with Siemens, IBM, Trilliant and General Electric.

Associated Press (AP) has named Brian Hopman (pictured below) as vice president and general manager of ENPS.He has been AP’s general manager for Latin American and Spanish media markets since 2010, and will now be responsible for managing the ENPS business on a global scale. “Brian brings a wealth of experience as an international revenue leader for AP and has a deep knowledge of the ENPS product,” said Ken Dale, senior vice president and chief financial officer.

hubee has announced the appointment of Jean Sebastien Petit as its new CEO. Working closely with Frédéric Pie, chairman and founder of the company, Jean Sebastien Petit has been appointed to strengthen the business development and operational activities globally.

Before joining hubee, Jean Sebastien Petit was COO for Arkena of the TDF Group base.

Forbidden Technologies add three new members to the Forscene management team this month.

Max McGonigal has 19 years of experience in television production, post and facility management. He takes up the position of European sales manager and will be based at Forscene’s London office.

Richie Murray owns and runs Bridge Digital, a Forscene reseller, based in Tennessee that focuses on bridging the gap between incompatible, disparate systems and departments such as production and IT. As American director of sales, Richie’s expertise in connectivity and on-premise infrastructure will be especially valuable to Forscene live events clients and complements regional manager, Jeff Krebs’ creative and practical editing experience.

Wazee Digital has appointed Andy Hurt (pictured right) as senior vice president of business development and marketing. Hurt joins the executive leadership team with 20 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry and will lead development of new areas of the business including Wazee Digital’s SaaS platform and its metadata, archive, MAM and DAM capabilities.

Snell Advanced Media (SAM) has created of a new division combining several of the company’s product lines into a business unit focused on the provision of software based solutions. Neil Maycock has been appointed to run Media Software Solutions as executive vice president and general manager, he is joined by David Lane, who will serve as CTO and executive vice president of engineering for the new division.

Tim Thorsteinson, SAM CEO, stated, “Clearly there is massive demand for software-based solutions, whether it’s in-house or in the cloud, the market dynamics of the media industry are driving the need for ever more flexible and scalable solutions. The creation of the Media Software Solutions division is an important and exciting step in SAM’s evolution.”

Viceland has announced a series of executive hires bolstering its creative and production capabilities ahead of the channel’s UK launch in September. In the newly-created role of vice president of TV production EMEA for Viceland, Debi Roach will be overseeing all production output for the channel across the region, including a slate of brand new Vice-produced UK programming.

Cam Levin brings a wealth of experience across integrated advertising and entertainment from his time at MTV International and Sky UK, and takes up the role of vice president brand EMEA. Levin will oversee audience, platform and social growth strategy as well innovating the channel¹s creative billing.

In addition, Dan Louw joins from the BBC as vice president development for Viceland UK. Louw is a former head of development in the multi-award winning BBC Documentaries department.
