The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) has appointed its board, as well as the chairs and deputy chairs for its newly formed marketing and technical working groups. Chairman Michael Cronk (SVP, strategic marketing, Grass Valley), vice chairman Steve Reynolds (CTO, Imagine Communications) and financial officer Andreas Hilmer (director of marketing and communications, Lawo), have all joined the board. Kerry Wheeles (CTO, networking, Imagine Communications) has been named chair of the AIMS Technical Working Group, and Scott Barella (CTO, 5280 Broadcast) as deputy chair.

Nora Melhli, formerly head of drama at Shine France and CEO of Endemol Fiction, is joining Altice as head of original creation and non-linear content across all of Altice's territories. For Michel Combes, Altice COO: "The arrival of Nora constitutes an important step in the continued strengthening of Altice's corporate organisation and demonstrates our involvement to create leaders of content in every country where we operate.”

Bavaria Fernsehproduktion, one of Germany’s largest providers of television content, is expanding to include new areas of TV development and production. The new position of executive producer, international television series will be filled by Moritz Polter.

DPA Microphones has promoted James Capparelle (pictured), to marketing manager, USA; Christopher Spahr to VP of sales and marketing, USA; and Gabriel Antonini to national sales support/business development manager. The company has also announced a new addition to the team, Eric Stahlhammer, business development/national sales support.

Gearhouse Broadcast has hired Martin Paskin as systems integration manager. Paskin joins from TSL, where he spent six years as its solutions manager. He joins former TSL MD, David Phillips, who recently became business development director of Gearhouse Broadcast’s fast-growing systems integration division.

In order to help strengthen its presence and activity in the rapidly developing region, IABM has appointed Hassan Ghoul as director, MENA. Ghoul’s brief covers delivery of IABM member services and support to vendors in MENA, as well as business development to increase IABM membership in the region. He will be fronting IABM’s presence at Cabsat this month.

Cambridge-based media asset management and technology specialist IPV, has announced a number of senior appointments. Ewan Johnston, has been named senior vice president, worldwide sales, and Nigel Booth executive vice president, business development.

Media Links has expanded its UK-based team with the addition of Alex Cozens (pictured), as technical support manager. Cozens has previously worked for Media Links Australia, and held technical roles at Ask4 Broadband and more recently BT IT Services.

Online video marketplace Newsflare has appointed Gary Morgan as senior advisor. Morgan is the former CEO of entertainment news and picture agency, Splash News.

Riedel Communications has announced two new appointments: Joe Commare joins as marketing and sales manager, north America, and Rick Seegull, as the company's manager of systems consultants.

Former CEO of WRN Broadcast, David Treadway, has joined RR Media as the joint managing director for Europe. Treadway will join existing managing director for Europe, Simon Kay, who will continue to focus on his role as head of global content preparation.

The Royal Television Society (RTS) has expanded its board of trustees, adding Jane Turton, CEO of All3Media and Rob Woodward, CEO of STV Group, to its number. “These appointments are part of the Royal Television Society’s strategy for continued growth”, said RTS CEO Theresa Wise. “The strength of our board is vital in ensuring we make the most effective use of our resources and with Jane and Rob’s extensive experience and industry knowledge they will make fantastic additions.”

SAM has hired Naresh Subherwal (pictured) as managing director, Middle East. Subherwal brings 25 years of experience to SAM, including several years with Snell. He will be based in SAM’s new Dubai office.

The SMPTE board of governors has named the Society's 2016 directors as well as two new governors at large; Chris Fetner of Netflix and Leon Silverman of Disney Digital Studio Services. Alan Lambshead, Bob Edge and Paul Treleaven have been reappointed to serve as standards directors along with the newly appointed Dave Schnuelle. Michael DeValue, V. MichaelBove, Peter Putman, and Al Kovalick have been reappointed as education directors, and Peter Weitzel as international membership director. Karl Joseph Kuhn will continue to serve as the north American membership director.

Former head of factual and factual entertainment at Objective Productions, Paul Gilheany has joined So Television as its new creative director. He was a co-founder of Endemol-owned comedy and entertainment indie Zeppotron, and has held roles as executive producer at Lion, producer/writer at Talkback and producer at Planet 24.

Telestream has hired Scott Murray as a product manager, working on the Company's Vantage media processing platform. For the last 15 years, Murray has held several senior management, marketing and development positions at Grass Valley.

Tigerlily Productions has appointed Debbie Manners (pictured), and Nicola Ibison to two new non-executive director roles. These appointments are a result of Tigerlily’s involvement in Nesta’s Creative Business Mentor Network, and through consultation with Manners as its mentor. The two will provide guidance to the company as it moves to its next stage of development in securing mainstream TV commissions.

Sally Wallington has left Grass Valley for Wazee Digital, where she will serve as its new VP, sales and business development UK and western Europe. “I look forward to bringing Wazee Digital’s portfolio of cloud-based content management products to European broadcasters, sports rights holders and production companies,” she commented.
