Bundling SVoD services now a ‘driving force’

Ampere Analysis releases latest SVoD report

Bundling multiple SVoD services has become a ‘driving force’ throughout the market, according to the latest Ampere Analysis research.

Ampere’s research noted that the trend is particularly prominent in Europe, with one quarter of Netflix subscribers also signing up to Amazon Prime video.

The analyst also found that nearly three-quarters (71.6 per cent) of internet users in the US have at least one SVoD subscription, and in nine of the 13 markets researched, at least half have one or more subscriptions. Right behind the US was Denmark (69.9 per cent) and Sweden (66 per cent) with the US around ten per cent behind.

The survey showed that the subscriber base in Spain increased from 14.1 per cent in Q3 2015 to 51.5 per cent in Q3 2017. During the same period, the audience increased by 33 per cent in Italy and 30 per cent in Poland. Spain also recorded the largest subscriber base increase between Q1 2017 and Q3 2017, with eight per cent.
