Channel 4 agrees deal to air Formula One title-decider live

It's thought Channel 4 will take Sky's feed of the race, bookending it with a build-up and post-race analysis segment

Channel 4 has struck a deal with Sky to enable it to broadcast the final race of the Formula One season live on free-to-air television this weekend.

Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen go into the race in Abu Dhabi level on points at the top of the driver’s championship.

Sky Sports has held exclusive live rights for F1 in the UK since 2019, with Channel 4 only airing the British Grand Prix live each year. Channel 4 broadcasts a highlights programme of qualifying and the race from all the other events.

It’s thought Channel 4 will take Sky’s feed of the race, bookending it with a build-up and post-race analysis segment.

The agreement follows Channel 4’s deal earlier this year with Amazon Prime to show Emma Raducanu’s US Open Final live, and its previous agreement with Sky on the Cricket World Cup Final in 2019.
