DMG Lumière is a family company – brothers Mathieu, Nils and Jean de Montgrand team with top European gaffer Nicolas Goerg. The DMG Lumière team will be back again this year with the SL1 Switch – a super thin and lightweight LED fixture. The company will also be showing for the first time in the UK the Mini Switch, which is exactly half the size and weight of the SL1.
Mathieu, a cinematographer, and Nicolas originally conceived the idea of the SL1. They made a wish-list of features and capabilities, and along with Nils, who has worked in lighting technology for more than a decade, the team perfected the design of the light. The original idea behind the SL1 was to make a fixture that takes full advantage of the potential of LED in the film production, instead of re-lamping, or using a fixture designed for architectural lighting or some other field.
According to the team, the lights from DMG stand out with an exceptional power/size/weight ratio as well as top of the range colour rendering index.
