‘Wrong kind of weather’ knocks out Freeview

Weather interrupts Great British Bake Off final

Freeview is suffering from issues with ‘the wrong kind of weather’ leaving viewers without access to its full portfolio of channels.

The outage happened last night during the Great British Bake Off final, meaning the episode was entirely inaccessible to some areas of the UK.

The issue has continued overnight, with the Freeview Service Status checker page also currently down, and a lack of social media activity from the platform leaving users entirely in the dark.

In a statement, Freeview said: “TV and radio signals can be affected by atmospheric conditions, including high air pressure (which brings fine weather), heavy rain or snow. We’re aware that high air pressure is currently affecting TV and radio signals for some viewers.”

While many people have no access at all, others simply have a reduced service.
