With all the speculation over the future of Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) and whether it will split or be sold as a whole, the company is expected to make a public decision by Christmas, according to reports.
CNBC said the company plans to publicly reveal plans for its future by the middle or end of December.
Speculation about the future of the media giant has been rife since September, when it was first revealed that Paramount Skydance was considering a bid to acquire the company.
Last month, WBD announced it was conducting a “review of strategic alternatives to maximise shareholder value”.
The company said it made the decision “in light of unsolicited interest” it has received from multiple parties for both the entire company and Warner Bros.
Since the announcement, speculation has increased as to who might try to acquire either all or part of WBD. Paramount Skydance has been leading the pack, but other names in the frame include Netflix, Comcast, Apple and Amazon.
WBD has previously announced plans to split the company into two. Warner Bros., will include Warner Bros Television, Warner Bros Motion Picture Group, DC Studios, HBO, HBO Max and Warner Bros Gaming Studios, as well as their film and television libraries.
Discovery Global will be made up of the company’s entertainment, sports and news television brands around the world, including CNN, TNT Sports, Discovery, and free-to-air channels across Europe as well as digital products such as discovery+.
WBD is due to report its Q3 earnings today.
