Viacom’s Paramount Network to launch in the UK

Free-to-air channel is due to launch on 4th July

Viacom International Media Networks has announced plans to launch Paramount Network as a FTA channel in the UK next month.

The channel will be available via Sky, TalkTalk and Freeview from 4th July and is described as “the channel with big stories and big characters for adults of all ages with strong appeal to Generation X, millennials and fans of cinematic storytelling, iconic moments and non-stop action.”

It will be overseen by Channel 5’s director of programmes Ben Frow.

Among the series expected to premiere on Paramount Network are Kiefer Sutherland’s drama Designated Survivor, comedy series The Mick, and the seventh season of Suits, earlier seasons of which will also air on the channel.

“Paramount Network is set to deliver high-end Hollywood entertainment with blockbuster movies, scripted drama and critically acclaimed comedy featuring some of the biggest names on the planet,” said Frow.

“Supported by Channel 5’s creative scheduling and audience insight and underpinned by Viacom’s brand-building expertise, Paramount Network is a popular premium content destination in a free-to-air world.”

The UK becomes the third Paramount Network after the US and Spain.
