TVBEurope is able to confirm that the next instalment of its roundtable series of events will be held in partnership with Marquis Media Partners. The event, which will be held at The Groucho Club in London on 12 May, will bring together a selection of industry authorities to discuss the latest trends in VoD, cloud and 4K.
Long serving TVBEurope contributor and renowned industry writer Chris Forrester has been announced as the moderator for the roundtable, with speakers from the EBU, BT, IABM, Globecast, and SIS already confirmed to participate.
Tom Hassall, marketing communications manager at Marquis Media Partners, explained, “There can be little doubt that the media landscape is changing rapidly and the traditional boundaries between content provider, broadcaster and network operator/distributor are continuing to blur and evolve. Lay over this changing consumer choice about how and when they receive content, the formats they consume it in and the devices they use, and it just adds to the complexity.
“Everybody seems to be talking about 4K,” he continued, “but owners of 3D TVs must be wondering what happened to the enthusiasm behind their new technology. Is 3D dead for domestic consumption? In the past, it was the broadcasters who led many of the new technology initiatives but the arrival of players like Netflix, Amazon and others with increased consumer choice suggest the old paradigm is changing. What or who is going to drive the take up on new technologies and which ones will the industry back?”
