TCB Sport Media has signed a long-term broadcast rights deal with the London Marathon for the global distribution rights to the Virgin Money London Marathon.
The new deal sees TCB Sport Media handle all international TV rights deals for the Virgin Money London Marathon for the next three years. Danny O’Toole (pictured), previously head of sport and sport entertainment at BBC Worldwide, launched the company after leaving the distributor in September 2014.
Announcing the deal, O’Toole said: “This is a significant step forward for TCB Sport Media and we are thrilled and extremely proud to be entering into this new partnership with such an iconic and historic event. The Virgin Money London Marathon showcases the world’s very best long-distance runners as well as the city of London, making it the perfect sporting event for broadcasters all over the globe. We look forward to working closely with the London Marathon in growing the international broadcast coverage of this event”.
The 2015 Virgin Money London Marathon will take place on the 26 April and will mark the 35th anniversary of the race.
“We are delighted to partner with TCB Sport Media and Danny’s knowledge of our event and wealth of expertise and experience from his previous role makes this a perfect choice for us at The London Marathon,” commented Race director, Hugh Brasher. “TCB Sport Media’s boutique service offers us an exciting new opportunity to not only deliver this world class event to our established global fans but it also allows us to grow and find new audiences”.
