Sony Pictures to launch new kids channel

Sony Pictures Television Networks (SPTN) is to launch Pop Max – a new dedicated kids channel, on 30th August.

Pop Max, which will be available across Freeview, Sky and Freesat, is a rebrand of current channel Kix, designed to “evolve” SPTN’s kids channel portfolio.

According to SPTN, Pop Max will be a “cheeky comedy channel” targeting six- to ten-year-old boys. It will “invite kids to escape into a world of fun and entertainment offering a mix of engaging story-telling, high-octane action and lots of laughs.”

Exclusive launch titles include the UK Premiere of Beyblade Burst, Winston Steinburger & Sir Dudley Ding Dong, Freaktown, Pirate Express and Clay Kids.

Kate Marsh, executive vice president, Western Europe, international networks, Sony Pictures Television, said: “The rebranding of Kix to Pop Max will allow us to strengthen the relationship in viewers’ minds between our portfolio of kids’ channels and our first class children’s programming. Having a consistent identity across Pop, Tiny Pop and Pop Max cements our positioning as a broadcaster that is at the heart of kids’ entetainment.”
