Snapchat announces content partnership with A+E Networks

App will launch its first original, network-produced show not based on an existing TV franchise in April.

Snapchat will launch a new, unscripted series from A+E Networks in April.

Second Chance will the app’s first original, network-produced show not based on an existing TV franchise.

The show will bring together exes to explore the end of their relationships for the first time as they seek closure or the opportunity for reconciliation.

Snapchat has ordered eight episodes of the series, which will be available for its users in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada and Australia.

The series is part of a larger multi-show development deal between A+E, its in-house branded content agency 45th & Dean and Snapchat parent Snap Inc.

“When we launched 45th & Dean one year ago, our vision was innovation in storytelling across all platforms, and rich, meaningful partnerships,” said Paul Greenberg, the agency’s executive vp.

“Snapchat is a powerful brand, one which knows how to reach new audiences by pushing the limits and expanding the boundaries of creativity. We’re extremely excited to bring A+E Networks’ strong brand portfolio — which includes A&E, Lifetime, History and FYI — to the Snapchat platform like never before as we roll out Second Chance and several other series already in development.”
