Russell T Davies set for Edinburgh TV Fest honour

Former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies will be presented with the Edinburgh Television Festival’s 2017 Outstanding Achievement Award at this year’s event.

He will receive the award from Nicole Shindler, producer and founder of Red Production Company, who has worked with Davies on Queer as Folk.

The presentation on Friday 25th August will take place after a panel where Davies will discuss creating some of the UK’s best television dramas, from shows like Bob & Rose – which starred Alan Davies as a gay man who has an affair with his female best friend – to The Second Coming which starred Christopher Eccleston as the son of God.

Davies is currently working on A Very English Scandal for BBC One which will see Hugh Grant play disgraced politician Jeremy Thorpe, his first Grant’s first TV role since the early 1990s.
