RTS aims to ‘move the conversation’ on inclusivity in production

The event, titled Accessible by design—How inclusive production is transforming the screen industries, will include a behind-the-scenes look at CAERUS, the world's first wheelchair-based camera system

The Royal Television Society Technology Centre is hosting an event exploring how the broadcast and production technology sector can, and must, be a driving force for inclusivity within the industry.

The event, titled Accessible by design—How inclusive production is transforming the screen industries, will include a behind-the-scenes look at CAERUS, the world’s first wheelchair-based camera system.

Chris Lynch, founder of CAERUS, will join creative strategist and disability consultant Ally Castle and Molly Reed, production executive across IMG Golf productions, to discuss the real accessibility challenges facing broadcast production today, from hiring practices to on-set technology, and what a truly inclusive production pipeline looks like in practice.

James McKeown, RTS Technology Centre Committee member and event producer, told TVBEurope: “Technology plays a huge role in shaping who gets to contribute on set. Inclusive production innovation moves the conversation towards practical solutions that open creative roles to a wider range of talent. This event will get into the finer detail and I’m looking forward to sharing ideas and perspectives with the panel.”

Further details about the event, which takes place on Thursday 12th March, are available here.
