New hirings in the industry this month, from Avid to Vision3.

Marquis Consulting has expanded its team with the appointment of Mike Cronk (pictured) as senior partner. Cronk previously held the position of controller Future Media, Technology and Distribution at BBC Global News and led broadcast and distribution technology and operations across the Global News output.

Daniel Pell
has been appointed sales manager for the UK, Ireland and Israel and will oversee the sale of Avid’s Enterprise solutions including InterPlay, ISIS and iNews. Pell joins Avid with a technology solutions sales background from Microsoft. Alex Keane joins as territory account manager, video for UK and Ireland. Keane will be focused on expanding Avid’s relationships with its reseller channel and joins from Mediaspec where he was a technical sales manager. As inside sales specialist, Lizzie Johnston will support the UK Enterprise sales team. Before joining Avid, Johnston worked for Microsoft in its Enterprise division.

At BBC Future Media & Technology Daniel Danker has been named as general manager, Programmes & On-Demand (POD). Responsible for delivering the creation of high quality online products and services for the BBC’s archive, programmes, channels and stations, Danker will work closely with the Audio & Music and Vision divisions.

Christian Poulsen has joined DPA Microphones as CEO and shareholder, with effect 1 October. Poulsen, a member of DPA Microphones’ board of directors for the last four years, has also been working as an external consultant at DPA for the last 10 months.

IBC has appointed Kelly Hyde as marketing manager and Charlotte Pudney as marketing consultant. Both will be part of IBC’s Executive Management Committee, which is the key project group responsible for managing and delivering IBC each September. IBC CEO Michael Crimp said, “Kelly and Charlotte have worked closely together since May 2010 and their complementary skills and excellent teamwork were instrumental in IBC2010 attracting the second biggest attendance in its history.”

MAC (Media Asset Capital), the UK-based broadcast consultancy, has announced the appointment of Adrian Scott as a director of the company. Scott, the founder and principal of the Bakewell House Consultancy, has been an Associate of MAC since the company’s foundation.

Megahertz (MHz) has appointed Alan Pimm to join its management team. Pimm comes to MHz from systems integrator ATG Broadcast where his recent achievements include the comprehensive rebuild of Astro’s All Asia Broadcast Centre (AABC) in Kuala Lumpur and the launch of HD television in Malaysia.

At NewTek, Rob Powers has been promoted to vice president of 3D development. Powers will oversee the design and development of NewTek’s 3D products. Prior to joining NewTek Powers worked with James Cameron, serving as animation technical director and vistual art department supervisor for Avatar.

Phabrix has announced the appointment of Bassam Asman as senior test and support engineer. Asman has worked previously at Oxtel and Electronic Manufacturing Solutions during his 14 year career.

Global digital content services group Prime Focus Technologies (PFT) has named Ganesh Sankaran as chief operating officer. Based in Bangalore and reporting to Prime Focus Technologies founder, president and ceo Ramki Sankaranarayanan, Ganesh will oversee R&D, technology development and service delivery operations for all PFT’s worldwide locations.

UK creative technology reseller root6 has appointed Neal Kemsley as customer services manager. Kemsley joins from Avid where he served for six years, latterly as Team Leader of the Video Infrastructure CS group.

Telestream has expanded its senior management team to address significant corporate growth and the integration of the Anystream acquisition. Kevin McCartney joins Telestream’s executive staff as vice president of Agility business; Anna Greco is promoted to vice president of client services, enterprise products; and John Pallett is promoted to director of product marketing, enterprise products.

Vision3, the 3D production specialist, has appointed senior producer Natalie Samson to the newly created role of Head of TV. Reporting directly into company founder, director and senior stereographer Chris Parks, Samson will bring experience including nearly ten years of documentary series work in her native New Zealand.
