Alec Stichbury has been appointed vice president Business Development EMEA at Ascent Media Group. Working with the senior management, Stichbury will report to Maurizio Cimelli SVP EMEA, who says “Alec joins us at a crucial time as we develop the next phase of our asset management solutions and he will take responsibility for building strategic partnerships that raise our profile across Europe.“
To coincide with the opening of the new Avid Centre of Excellence in Pinewood Studios at a cost of £1.5 million, Avid has made a series of new hires and promotions. Simon Sherbourne has been appointed as audio application specialist. Most recently Sherbourne worked as a mixer re-versioning foreign language films for Disney/Pixar.
Mathias Hekton has been appointed as an application specialist and will be based out of Avid’s Stockholm office. He previously worked at Swedish film and TV production Mekaniken where he ran over 40 edit stations and planned workflows for shows such as Pop Idol and Farmer Wants a Wife. Tom Crocker has been also promoted to application specialist for video products across Northern Europe.
Bonnie Barclay has been named as vice president and chief marketing officer at Chyron. Most recently, Barclay has spent the past nine years leading the Scripps Broadcast stations in all aspects of marketing, branding and market research. Her experience previously was with Cox Broadcasting at WSB and WSOC and A.H Belo Corporation at WFAA and KOTV.
A new outsourcing company, EMEA Gateway, has been set up by Guy Elliott to provide sales and marketing support to technology manufacturers looking to expand their business into the EMEA region. Most recently Elliott spent 18 months managing the system integration business for ATG Broadcast, the UK arm of Dan Technologies Group. He was previously European director of sales for eight years at Harris Broadcast Communications.
HHB Communications has announced the appointment of Jonathan Darby as product support specialist. His real-world experience has been gained at post production facilities in London, Dublin and New York.
Robert Holland is the new sales manager for the UK & ROI at IDX Technology. Holland will oversee IDX’s core battery range and expanding portfolio of distribution products, with over 25 years experience in the broadcast industry including almost 20 years with Panasonic UK.
itfc, the London-based provider of content management and media access services, has appointed Lesley Marr to the new role of senior operations director. She will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of all itfc operations. Marr previously led Sky's high-profile delivery and change programme to transition all production and post production areas from tape to file-based operation.
Pierre Laporte is the new sales manager at Merging Technologies. Laporte is no stranger to Merging's product line, having been managing director of the company's French distributor Diversity for 15 years.
The Pixel Farm has appointed former Avid and Autodesk Sales Manager Simon Brett as its new operations director, and Amy Beaman, from US reseller ALT Systems, as its new account manager for the US. The new appointments follow 18 months of intensive product development, plus significant sales success for the company’s PF Clean and PF Track software.
Vic Godding has become sales and marketing manager at Polecam. He arrives with 18 years of experience in imaging and media, principally with Kodak and Sohonet. Godding succeeds Mel Noonan who has formed his own marketing organisation following eight years with Polecam.
Audio post specialist Scrub, a division of HHB Communications, has added Ben Scully to its Soho-based team. Scully joins Scrub with a background in custom-building computer systems for audio and video production -- initially with Carillon Audio and, more recently with Synergy Computers.
Patrick Gerald Whittingham has joined the Sensio board of directors. Whittingham's career in the media industry includes 28 years with Sony, most recently as president of the Sony Broadcast and Production Systems Division at Sony Electronics (USA).
In a move to expand its presence in the sports market, Streambox has appointed James Page as director of sports broadcasting. In his new role, Page will work to develop new opportunities for Streambox to provide its line of IP-based video acquisition and transport solutions for coverage of remote sporting events.
