Orad Hi-Tec Systems’ sports-oriented camera tracking technology has received a patent, the company has announced.
The technology is a software-based pattern recognition algorithm that does not require additional camera attachments. It analyses video in realtime, calculating camera parameters for each video frame. This allows for realtime insertion of graphics onto sports video, such as on a soccer field, tennis court or golf course. No field lines are used in the pattern recognition process, and the entire image is analysed to retrieve the camera parameters. The method can therefore be applied to any sports-related content.
The patented camera tracking technology is part of Orad’s sport-enhancement products MVP and Invictus. It can be deployed for all sporting environments, including field, truck, stadium and studio.
