Last week to nominate for TVBAwards in Infrastructure and TVBEverywhere

After its successful launch last year, the TVBAwards returns to London this October, and nominations for the Awards are open until the end of this week

After its successful launch last year, the TVBAwards returns to London this October, and nominations for the Awards are open until the end of this week. Projects and programmes can be entered for any of the 17 Awards – the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement honour will again be selected by our panel of judges. Nominees can enter a project or programme completed by their colleagues, themselves or others in the industry, and there is no restriction on the number of categories which can be entered into.

Last week we detailed the Live Production, and Production and Post categories, and today the spotlight is on Infrastructure and TVBEverywhere. An often overlooked area of expertise, the Infrastructure category highlights the impressive work being done in systems integration, archive digitisation, and media asset management.

The first award in the Infrastructure category is for systems integration, awarded to an SI whose newly integrated infrastructure/workflow has been shown to have positively impacted the operations of a broadcaster/content provider over the last year. The TVBAward 2014 for systems integration was presented to Cambridge Imaging Systems for its UK Education catch-up TV service.

Achievement in archive digitisation and achievement in asset management make up the remaining two awards within the category.

A new category this year, TVBEverywhere pays homage to some of the cutting edge systems being used in programming and content provision across the industry. This year’s awards recognise VoD/catch-up and mobile TV provision; social media integration; and multiplatform production and delivery. The TVBEverywhere awards include multiplatform production and delivery; social media integration; and TVAnywhere solutions: VoD/catch-up and mobile TV provision.

This category has been expanded since last year, when the single achievement in multiplatform content fell within the Delivery category. Nominations for the award in 2014 included Elemental Technologies for its World Cup project, and EVS for its first multiscreen production and delivery for the 2014 World Cup.

The TVBAwards will be presented at ceremony at the Bloomsbury Ballroom, London, on 22 October. Tickets are available now, as well as a range of sponsorship opportunities. Contact Steve Connolly [email protected], Ben Ewles [email protected], or Richard Carr [email protected] for more information.
