NewTek replays French BMX Championship

NewTek 3Play was used for the HD production of the recent 2011 BMX French National Championship, where it was used by dmprod.net to provide low-cost, instant slow-motion replay, writes David Fox

The event attracted more than 1,.200 riders, and dmprod.net used 3Play to show the action on big screens to the 10,000 visitors attending the championship.

The 3Play was integrated in a system with two computer sources for titling and advertising, six videos sources including four cameras and an external source coming from another OB Van.

“We were really impressed by how easy the 3Play is to integrate and to use for the first time,” said Nicolas Siron, director of dmprod.net.

“It is a well-thought and well-made product, the ideal solution for small production company like us. We produce concerts and festivals, but thanks to the 3Play, extending our expertise and capabilities to Live Sport Broadcast is now an option.”

NewTek’s 3Play 820 is an HD/SD ten-channel slow motion system that supports simultaneous display, recording and instant replay of up to eight video streams, each with up to four audio channels.

It uses NewTek’s proprietary IsoCorder technology, and, with its eight inputs, two outputs, the 3Play 820 is claimed to offer “revolutionary price-performance value”, and cost a lot less than rival four-input, two-out devices.
