New VR content and creator platform receives financial backing

Blend Media, the new 360-degree video and virtual reality content and creator platform founded by Damian Collier, has received financial backing from the co-founder and former president of Maker Studios and MD of ITN Productions.

The company’s investors include Ben Donovan, co-founder and former president of Maker Studios, Mark Browning, MD of ITN Productions and Vinay Solanki, current head of Channel 4’s Commercial Growth Fund.

Collier is joined in the venture by co-founder and COO, Chris Helm, a rights management expert and former finance director of Sony Music and EMI Music Publishing.

Blend Media has been created as a complete immersive content solution for brands, agencies and publishers seeking to capitalise on the burgeoning new immersive digital media format.

It claims to reduce the time, costs and risk involved in creating or licensing premium quality immersive video. The company has already supplied content for a number of commercial clients including the Orange VR 360 app.

Other investors in the company include Alex ‘Solly’ Solomou, co-founder and CEO of The LADBible Group; David Beck, chief operating officer at Bell Pottinger; Paul Cooper, partner at Clarity; and Chris Waters, commercial director of Bartle Bogle Hegarty.
