Rohde & Schwarz has joined the Digital TV Group (DTG), which commands a membership of 150-plus organisations from around the world, including broadcasters, platform operators, manufacturers, technology and service providers, retailers and government departments.

BBC, Freesat, Freeview, Panasonic, Sky, Sony and YouView are among the prominent organisations to have taken up membership of the UK digital TV association.

As a full member, Rohde & Schwarz will be entitled to vote at plenary meetings, participate directly in the development of technical specifications, and receive online access to the D-Book, containing the detailed technical specification for UK digital terrestrial television.

Richard Lindsay-Davies, director general of the DTG, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Rohde & Schwarz to the group as a full member. The DTG incorporates a diverse, global membership who work together, despite competitive differences, to develop open specifications for UK digital terrestrial television. The addition of new members such as Rohde & Schwarz strengthens our ability to produce high quality technical specifications and in turn robust and reliable products for consumers.”

Albert Dietl, director of the broadcasting test and measurement products subdivision at Rohde & Schwarz, added: “The Digital TV Group membership gives Rohde & Schwarz the opportunity to participate directly in specification activities to ensure reliable and compliant digital TV products for the UK. DTG requirements will be taken into account in our test and measurement solutions in order to enhance conformance testing.”
