Movistar+ retains Formula One exclusivity

Will remain exclusive home in Spain until at least 2020

Movistar+ has agreed a deal to continue its Formula One exclusivity in Spain through to 2020.

The commercial partnership, which began in 2014, will see Movistar F1 broadcast all 21 races of the Formula One season for the next three seasons. Exclusive content will also be delivered 24/7 throughout the year.

Ian Holmes, director for broadcasting rights, Formula One, said: “We are happy to continue our partnership with Movistar+. Spain is one of the most important European markets for Formula One and, thanks to this deal, Spaniards will be enabled to continue watching the championship through a dedicated channel. We’ll also assist Movistar+ to produce exclusive content for digital and social platforms.”

Alex Martínez Roig, director of content, Movistar+ added: “Motor sports are a cornerstone of Movistar+’s programming, which includes a differentiation strategy and two dedicated channels. Our goal is to drive passion for Formula One and meet the needs of a highly-demanding fan community.”
