Movietech buys five Alexas

Rental firm Movietech today announced plans to further upscale its high end camera portfolio with the addition of five Arri Alexa cameras, financed through media and broadcast leasing specialists, Azule Finance.

Rental firm Movietech today announced plans to further upscale its high end camera portfolio with the addition of five Arri Alexa cameras, financed through media and broadcast leasing specialists, Azule Finance.

“In the hire industry it is absolutely essential that you have access to the latest and most cutting edge equipment on the market. When Arri unveiled the Alexa at IBC last year, we knew instantly that this would be one of the hottest products of 2010. Working with Azule we were able to quickly source the finance to ensure that we were amongst the first to take delivery of the new cameras. So far it’s proved incredibly popular, we’ve already had it out on work and demos are non-stop,” said John Buckley, MD, Movietech.

Gavin Scott, Sales Director, Azule Finance explained why speed is of the essence in order to remain competitive in the rental industry: “Ultimately in an asset intensive industry such as the media and broadcast rental sector, quick competitive leasing solutions are essential to ensure businesses like Movietech can maintain their position at the cutting edge camera hire.”

Judith Petty, Head of Corporate Marketing commented on the success of the new cameras, “It’s fantastic to get such positive feedback from Movietech on the Alexa and we’re delighted that they’ve committed to future investments by sourcing finance from Azule. Demand for the Alexa intensified considerably following NAB and we quickly began scaling up production. It seems the implementation of the Apple ProRes codec for direct to edit recording has been incredibly well received, highlighting a real demand for high-end tapeless solutions which streamlines the editing process for high end production.”
