German broadcaster ProSiebenSat.1 has announced Mediaset is now a shareholder in the company.
ProSieben has previously dismissed speculation it is about to be acquired by Mediaset, and again declined to comment on the speculation following the announcement.
“We have very good relations with Mediaset,” ProSieben CEO Max Conze told reporters on a results call.
“We are happy to have Mediaset as an investor and supporter of our strategy.”
Mediaset has accumulated a 9.6 per cent stake in ProSieben as it looks to futureproof itself against the growing rise of the streamers.
