Liverpool fails to make shortlist for new Channel 4 HQ

Mayor Joe Anderson has confirmed the news in a tweet

Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson has confirmed in a tweet that Channel 4’s headquarters will not be relocated to Liverpool.

Liverpool was one of many cities and regions competing to be the broadcaster’s new home alongside Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Greater Manchester, Leeds and the West Midlands, but it has now been confirmed that it has not made the shortlist.

Channel 4 News anchor Jon Snow recently expressed his support for the city’s #4forLiverpool campaign.

Anderson’s tweet stated: “Sorry to announce Liverpool has not been shortlisted for C4 relocation or Hub. A huge thank you everyone who supported the bid. Sad to be told a big problem was Liverpool not being connected transport wise. Exactly why not getting HS2 link is wrong and shortsighted.”

Channel 4 is expected to announce the final decision by October.
