Despite recent reports suggesting talks had slowed, ITV has confirmed it remains “actively engaged” in discussions with Sky’s owner Comcast over a potential sale.
In its full-year 2025 results, the broadcaster said: “Following our announcement in November 2025, we remain in discussions with Sky regarding a possible sale of the M&E business. There can be no certainty as to whether a transaction will take place and an update will be made in due course.”
Speaking on a call with analysts, ITV CEO Dame Carolyn McCall reiterated the company is “actively engaged” in the talks.
The proposed £1.6 billion deal is believed to be focusing on ITV’s Media and Entertainment division, which includes its TV channels as well as streaming service, ITVX.
It’s thought Sky/Comcast wants to create a UK-focused streaming giant.
Last month, the UK’s National Union of Journalists said it “believes that the ITV/Comcast talks are at a much more advanced stage than has been made public”, adding that a potential deal could happen as soon as Q2 2026.
