ITV confirms it’s still in ‘active discussions’ with Comcast about a sale

The proposed £1.6 billion deal is focused on ITV’s Media and Entertainment division, which includes its TV channels as well as streaming service, ITVX

As part of its Q1 2026 announcement, UK broadcaster ITV has again stated it is in talks with Sky’s parent company Comcast about a potential sale.

ITV said: “Following our announcement in November 2025, we remain in active discussions with Sky regarding a possible sale of the M&E business. We will update the market in due course.”

Interestingly, ITV has dropped a line stating “there can be no certainty as to whether a transaction will take place” from its earlier announcements.

The proposed £1.6 billion deal was first revealed in November 2025. The talks are focusing on ITV’s Media and Entertainment division, which includes its TV channels as well as streaming service, ITVX.

It is thought Sky/Comcast wants to create a UK-focused streaming giant.
