Vivendi’s request to suspend a ruling that would force the company to freeze two-thirds of its stake in Mediaset has been thrown out by an Italian court.
The decision comes a day before a Mediaset shareholder meeting to vote on governance tweaks to its pan-European TV company MediaForEurope (MFE).
According to Reuters: “Vivendi opposes Mediaset’s plans on the grounds the changes would give Mediaset’s main shareholder, the Berlusconi family, too much power.”
The administrative court (TAR) will convene a closed-door hearing on 15th January to decide on the merits of the case, following the rejection of Vivendi’s request for the latest ruling to be suspended.
