IBC2025 attendee numbers down, but organisers see more engagement with next-generation

"IBC2025 felt more dynamic, inclusive and forward-looking, exactly what our industry needs to thrive and move confidently into the future," said ITN's CTO Jon Roberts

According to its organisers, IBC2025 saw 43,858 visitors from 170 countries walk through the doors of Amsterdam’s RAI and engage with the event’s show floor and Conference.

That number is slightly down from 2024’s 45,085 attendees.

The show floor welcomed over 1,300 exhibitors, while more than 600 speakers took to the stage across the show’s numerous stages.

“IBC2025 has delivered real business outcomes with overwhelmingly positive feedback from attendees,” said Michael Crimp, chief executive officer of IBC. “What struck me most was the sense of optimism and purpose—exhibitors, visitors, speakers, and partners all came here to shape the future of our industry. We look forward to continuing the journey together next year.”

Several vendors TVBEurope spoke to said they were seeing younger attendees this year, who want to engage with broadcast technology but not necessarily in a traditional broadcast setting.

With its Talent Programme and other initiatives, IBC2025 provided a platform for new voices and diverse perspectives.

Jon Roberts, chief technology officer at ITN, said: “You could really feel this year how the IBC community is expanding, with younger voices adding fresh energy to more established leading voices, all with a shared appetite for collaboration and innovation. IBC2025 felt more dynamic, inclusive and forward-looking, exactly what our industry needs to thrive and move confidently into the future.”

“IBC2025’s Talent Programme built on the success of last year’s launch, addressing the industry’s urgent need to attract, develop and support new talent,” added Carrie Wootten, CEO of Global Media and Entertainment Talent Manifesto and a speaker in the programme. “From mentoring to fast-pitch networking to conversations on building a sustainable talent pipeline, IBC worked closely with us and many others to foster fresh perspectives and vital connections–helping the next generation of media professionals feel seen, supported and inspired.”

IBC2026 will take place 11th-14th September 2026.
