Spanish satellite telecoms operator Hispasat and Portugal Telecom television’s MEO platform have reached an agreement to broadcast the Champions League Final and eight UEFA Euro 2016 matches in 4K. They will be shown on the Sport TV and RTP 4K channel.
The first match to be broadcast in UHD will be the Real Madrid versus Atlético de Madrid match, disputing the Champions League Final in Milan on 28 May, and will be broadcast on the Sport TV channel. Eight UEFA Euro 2016 matches to be played this summer will also be broadcast in UHD on the RTP 4K channel; the opening match between France and Hungary, as well as the quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals, which will be held in Paris on 10 July. Both sporting events will be broadcast on the Portuguese MEO platform, via the Hispasat 30W-5 satellite.
The agreement between the two companies also includes airing the Hispasat 4K television channel, established exclusively to broadcast UHD content, within the Portuguese platform’s service offering.
