GT Open streams ahead with Telestream + Matrox

London-based Ellegy is using Matrox' new Multi-Ingest video capture and Telestream Wirecast Pro webcasting software to live stream the current International GT Open car championship to web viewers.

London-based Ellegy is using Matrox‘ new Multi-Ingest video capture and Telestream Wirecast Pro webcasting software to live stream the current International GT Open car championship to web viewers, writes David Fox.

Ellegy is a promotion and media production company that specializes in motor sports, and is streaming coverage of eight races across Europe this season.

“We chose Matrox and Telestream because they fit our Apple hardware requirements and because of their exceptional customer relationship programmes which enable us to instantly solve any technical issue,” explained Brian Lavio, Ellegy’s CEO. “Our new web programme allows us to provide more content, including live camera transmission from the pit lane and live interviews.”

The Matrox Multi-Ingest and Telestream Wirecast systems were used to stream live coverage at the May event, from Magny Cours, France, and from Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps in June. Coverage of the events can be viewed at www.gtopen.net, with racing from England’s Brands Hatch in July, the A1 Ring, Austria, in August, Portimao Algarve, Portugal, in September, Monza, Italy and Barcellona, Spain, in October. The racing is also extensively covered on TV, by numerous broadcasters around Europe, particularly Motors TV.

“Integration of Matrox Multi-Ingest with Telestream Wirecast Pro allows journalists and videographers to simultaneously switch between four live HD-SDI cameras which is perfect for live event coverage such as the International GT Open,” said Barbara DeHart, VP of marketing at Telestream.

The Matrox Multi-Ingest card (pictured) fits in a single PCIe slot, and has four independent HD-SDI inputs with up to 16 embedded audio channels per SDI stream, plus four unbalanced analogue audio channels for monitoring.

Telestream’s Wirecast Pro combines live switching between multiple camera feeds with such features as: chromakey, transitions, 3D graphics, built-in titles or lower-thirds, 35 layers of live compositing, virtual 3D foregrounds, backgrounds and virtual sets, plus built-in scoreboard templates. It supports live encoding to popular streaming formats, including QuickTime, On2 Flash 8, H.264, and Windows Media.

“Matrox Multi-Ingest and Telestream Wirecast Pro provide a huge step forward in our workflow,” added Lavio. “Multi-camera live web production opens new doors for our company by allowing us to explore new business opportunities for offering full-HD video to the web.”

Ellegy is one of the first companies to deploy the integrated Telestream/Matrox solution, which will be available later this month.
