GB News appoints Lucy O’Brien as head of technology and operations

O'Brien will join the channel from her current role as head of field operations for ITN

GB News, the news channel fronted by Andrew Neil, has announced the appointment of Lucy O’Brien as head of technology and operations. She joins the channel from ITN where she is currently head of field operations.

O’Brien is one of three key appointments announced by the channel, which include Rebecca Hutson as head of digital and Lucinda Duckett as director of corporate affairs and editorial advocacy.

These appointments are the start of GB News’s recruitment process as it looks to employ 140 people nationwide for the roles of executive producers, senior producers, reporters and a host of other
journalism roles.

GB News chief executive officer Angelos Frangopoulos said, “Rebecca, Lucy and Lucinda are outstanding achievers in their respective fields and demonstrate the calibre of talent we are hiring.”

We’re looking for a range of voices and perspectives, so we welcome applications from people of all backgrounds across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.”

GB News expects to reach 96 per cent of British television households via Freeview, Sky, Virgin Media,
YouView and Freesat. It also plans to launch streaming, video-on-demand and audio services.
