French broadcasters combine for new OTT service

SALTO is a new venture from France Télévisions, M6 and TF1

Three major French television operators are working together to stave off the impact of Netflix and Amazon.

France Télévisions, M6 and TF1 are launching new OTT service, SALTO. It will be an equally-owned service and operated as a separate company.

SALTO will provide subscribers with news, special events, French and US series, documentaries and films as well as exclusive content. It is expected to have a number of subscription packages.

Delphine Ernotte Cunci, chief executive officer of France Télévisions, said “I am delighted at the launch of this joint platform, which is a major development for the future of the French audiovisual sector. In the face of global platforms, SALTO will offer a high quality of service to all our audiences and showcase the best of French and European creation.”

A launch date for SALTO is yet to be announced.
