Post production house Evolutions will open a new facility in London’s Soho, in March. The 13,000sqft facility will house 25 offlines, five Symphony online suites, a Baselight grading suite and two audio suites.

32km of network cable will be laid to connect all creative facilities with the central machine room, built on the requirements of file based ingest and delivery. Avid ISIS 5500 will be installed as the tier1 media storage, tier 2 from Infortrend and Spectralogic with Xen providing the archive.

“It is a pleasure to be able to build a facility from the ground up, delivering to the evolving needs of file based television in 2014 without having to work around a baseband legacy infrastructure designed for the last decade,” commented Evolutions’ operations director, Owen Tyler.

Evolutions will be moving to Wardour street from its current address in Berners street. The company will occupy one room, with expansion in mind. “Last autumn we had to outsource 40 suites to meet all our bookings,” explained Simon Kanjee, managing director. “Within the new building there is some additional space and we do foresee expansion into it, to meet the growing needs of the business in the busy times ahead.”

“We are so excited about the new address,” he continued. “This is the right time for Evolutions to enter its next stage of growth and development. It is a stunning building that will be perfect for us. We have been able to design every element of the new facility and have based all our decisions on what we think will work best for our clients. We believe that the new space will work perfectly for them and increase our efficiency at the same time.”

Evolutions’ credits include The Taste (Channel 4), The Apprentice (pictured) (BBC1), The Only Way Is Essex (ITV2) and The Graham Norton Show (BBC1).
