In a move that signals the expansion of its international business, Elemental Technologies has announced the opening of an office in the UK. Headquartered in Portland, Oregon, US, Elemental is a prominent provider of video processing solutions that enable multi-screen content delivery.

The new UK office will provide sales, marketing and systems engineering service and support to Elemental’s customer base in Europe, as well as managing its reseller channel throughout EMEA. Indeed, the company has registered a number of success in the region and proffers a roll-call of high-profile ‘early adopters’.

WRN Broadcast in England has deployed Elemental Live to create ten simultaneous streaming outputs from a live HD-SDI playout source, while QVC in Italy is using Elemental Live to capture live outputs in three-minute increments to create Adobe Flash assets for later use on the company’s website. Meanwhile, TF1 Group in France is employing Elemental Live to create live streams for Adobe Flash, Apple HLS and Microsoft Smooth Streaming.

Looking forward, Belgium-based VMMa (Flemish Media Company), in conjunction with Telenet, plans to broadcast live sporting events using Elemental Live streams formatted for Microsoft Smooth Streaming.

Elemental’s new UK office, located just outside London in Reading, England, is headed by John Nemeth (pictured), director, EMEA. Prior to joining Elemental, Nemeth was sales director at IBIS Limited and, prior to that, director of sales at Omneon (now owned by Harmonic) during a period of high growth.

“Elemental is rapidly deploying its solutions across the video landscape in Europe to perfect the media experience,” said Nemeth. “The company’s incredible momentum in the streaming media market stems from our superior products, dedication to programmer and service provider customers and the strength of our channel partnerships.”

To mark the launch of its European operations, the Elemental UK team participated in the 2011 Diamond Cup Regatta, which took place in Portsmouth, Hampshire, earlier this week. Elemental joined crewmates from Alliants, Atom Systems, BSkyB, Hurst UK and WRN Broadcast. Proceeds from this event will benefit The Outward Bound Trust, an educational charity that helps young people access outdoor adventure.
