Dov Freedman and Charlie Russell launch Curious Films

Indie production company will create popular factual programming

Producer Dov Freedman and director Charlie Russell have launched independent production company Curious Films.

The company has announced its first commission from BBC Three – a documentary series about West Ham United Women’s Football Club with the working title Britain’s Youngest Football Boss.

Freedman has previously produced the likes of The Trouble with Dad for Channel 4 and An Hour to Save Your Life for the BBC.

His long-time collaborator Russell is the multi award-winning director behind Chris Packham: Asperger’s and Me and Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die.

“Charlie and I share a vision to make quality factual television with an unashamedly popular touch. We have a desire to innovate at every turn, and we’re thrilled with how our first major commission is shaping up,” said Freedman.

“What makes Dov and I different is our approach to talent and our ability to support, harness and challenge big names for exclusive access, telling heart-warming and intimate stories for the widest possible audience,” added Russell.
