Mediaset and ProSiebenSat.1 have held “constructive talks” in the companies’ first meeting since the Italian broadcaster took a 15 per cent stake in its German rival.
According to reports, Mediaset is seeking to persuade ProSieben to join its pan-European TV company MediaForEurope, but its Munich-based counterpart is sceptical about cross-border integration.
Sources described Monday’s talks between CEOs Pier Silvio Berlusconi and Max Conze as constructive, exploring a joint working group to launch ProSieben’s Joyn offering in Italy and Spain – despite scepticism over the project from Mediaset.
Mediaset said it could raise its ownership of ProSieben to 20 per cent, while Vivendi’s dispute with the Italian company complicates discussions further.
