Canal Plus signs MOU to acquire Orange’s pay-TV and film business

The deal could add another three million subscribers to Canal Plus's streaming offerings, enabling it to gain traction on the global tech giants

Canal Plus has agreed a deal to acquire Orange’s pay-TV and film operations (OCS) in France.

The two companies have signed a memorandum of understanding on the deal, which could see Canal Plus adding three million subscribers to its streaming offerings, enabling it to gain traction on the global tech giants.

The deal will see Canal Plus take over complete control of OCS, the second biggest pay-TV operation in France, which it already held a 33 per cent stake in.

Financial details of the deal have not been revealed, but it will be subject to the usual approval by regulators.

Reports of a potential deal between the two companies first surfaced last November.
