TVBEurope understands that the BBC is considering plans to broadcast the 3D matches from Wimbledon over its Freesat HD channel, writes Adrian Pennington.

The 3D production is being produced by the BBC in partnership with Sony and the All England Lawn Tennis Club. Can Communicate is the technical consultant to the project.

An OB supplier has also been contracted but we can’t reveal details until after NAB.

Sony will distribute the 3D feed to hospitality suites around Wimbledon and is working with its cinema distribution partners SuperVision Media to get coverage of the Men’s Singles Semi-Finals, the Ladies’ and the Men’s Singles Finals into theatres worldwide.
