BBC News signs video distribution deal with Yahoo

The BBC has entered into a partnership with Yahoo that will see BBC News branded video clips syndicated across Yahoo sites in north America

The BBC has entered into a partnership with Yahoo that will see BBC News branded video clips syndicated across Yahoo sites in north America.

The new collaboration with the American tech company will focus on short-form video content with a particular focus on the BBC’s international news, science, technology and business reporting drawn from the BBC’s global site BBC.com. Around 200 BBC News videos will be syndicated to Yahoo on a monthly basis and will start appearing on its sites this month.

This new agreement, the BBC says, is to give more users in the US and Canada access to the BBC’s international journalism and short-form video features.

“Through our network of international journalists and the strength of our newsgathering operation, BBC News is able to deliver on the ground reporting and video reports that provide a truly global perspective on the day’s news agenda,” said Gail Jammy, head of business development, BBC Global News. “Extending our partnership with Yahoo to north America offers a great opportunity for us to further extend our relationship with online users and give more of them access to our award-winning journalism.”
