Arqiva owners ‘planning to break up the company’

Plan to split TV and radio towers business from mobile masts division

The investment firms behind Aqiva are reportedly looking at breaking up the company.

According to the Sunday Telegraph, the plan is to split Arqiva’s TV and radio towers business from its mobile masts division.

Spanish towers firm Cellnex, one of Europe’s largest telecoms infrastructure firms, is being eyed as a potential buyer, according to the report.

Arqiva’s investors are also said to be exploring potential listings of one of both of the divisions.

The company provides digital and satellite services for the UK’s TV and radio broadcasters, as well as for international clients including Canal+ and Freeview.

Last November Arqiva announced it would exit the playout business following an internal review of its Satellite & Media division.

Arqiva declined to comment on the report.
