AMC secures record Champions League coverage

AMC Networks International Central Europe (AMCNI CE) channels will broadcast more live Champions League matches than ever in Hungary over the next three years.

AMC Networks International Central Europe (AMCNI CE) channels will broadcast more live Champions League matches than ever in Hungary over the next three years. The company that operates Sport1 and Sport2 will provide live coverage of over 60 Champions League matches per season, in HD.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and AMCNI CE, concluded a contract that grants broadcasting rights for three channels of the AMCNI CE, including Sport1 and Sport2, to show Champions League matches live on every Tuesday and Wednesday between August 2015 and June 2018.

The company will cover three of the matches played in the same round, and will also broadcast live other matches starting earlier in the evening in the group stage. In the knockout phase one match will be shown each day on Sport1, including every semi-final. AMCNI CE will cover more than 60 Champions League matches live per season, surpassing any former coverage from other broadcasters.

“I feel tremendously proud that we managed to increase the number of Champions League matches we broadcast more than threefold,” said Levente B Málnay, CEO of AMC NI CE. “The channels in our portfolio will cover over sixty matches live in every season, which is a clear proof of our owner’s commitment to quality sports events. We’ll show the top teams from England to Italy, and no matter what you want to see, be it Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Bayern Munich or Roma, you’ll find it in our programme.”
