Rain Post is about to open the doors of its new 4500 sq ft (418 sq metre) facility in London’s Soho and commissioned studio interiors specialists AKA to design and manufacture all the desks for its editing and audio suites, writes David Fox.
It is a combination of custom and hybrid desks to fit out the studios, which include five on- and offline editing suites, two Baselight suites, a main mixing and ADR audio studio and a track lay suite.
Rain used tailored desks from the AKAProduct range combined with custom grading and audio desks. This gives the facility continuity of design whilst meeting the technical and budget requirements.
Rain Post will offer services for low- to medium-end feature films, TV broadcast, short form broadcast and corporate work.
The facility is the first phase by Indian media and entertainment group, High Ground Enterprise, in a projected £10m investment that could also include facilities in Manchester, the US and Canada.
AKA Design has also supplied another 20 desks for Envy Post Production, which recently expanded its Rathbone Place facility by installing another 20 editing suites, bringing its total to over 100 across four Soho facilities.
AKA has supplied all the technical furniture for Envy’s sites, totalling 118 suites across central London, including editing, grading, audio and finishing.
“We are always impressed with the style, quality and reliability of AKA’s furniture. The desks are both robust and versatile in accommodating different users and equipment configurations, making them very popular with both our editors and clients,” said Dave Cadle, Envy’s MD.
