The TVBEurope team has recently launched two specialist fortnightly enewsletters, for the camera/acquisition and pro-audio communities, writes Fergal Ringrose. If you wish to subscribe to Acquisition News or Audio for Broadcast, please click on ‘Newsletters’ on www.tvbeurope.com and take your pick.
The area around the TV camera is highly dynamic and sees constant innovation in products, techniques and workflows. Whether you’re a freelance cameraperson, a broadcast camera supervisor, a devoted Red owner or an indie film maker, TVBEurope’s Acquisition News e-newsletter now brings you the latest information on cameras, lenses, camera support, accessories, lighting and acquisition workflows.
Acquisition News is compiled and written by Associate Editor David Fox, senior camera-focused writer for TVBEurope and for The IBC Daily. The enewsletter is published in association with the Guild of Television Cameramen – formed in 1972 for professional TV camerapeople and now numbering over 1000 members in countries as far afield as Australia, South Africa, the USA, Russia and Singapore.
Audio For Broadcast (AFB) is a new twice-monthly email newsletter published in collaboration with our sister title Pro Sound News Europe. Focusing primarily on the TV environment but with a signifcant radio focus too, AFB presents essential news, in-depth features, case studies, interviews, new product round-ups and more.
In the first few months AFB is covering audio for 3DTV; digital radio; networking for OB trucks; audio on VT desks; and embedded audio. Edited by Kevin Hilton, this dedicated new service is distributed to over 6,000 broadcast professionals including sound engineers, technical officers and senior management from across the European broadcast industry.
Audio for broadcast is a broad but definable community: TV sound, radio (including journalists), sound for picture post production and sound recordists in TV and film. As well as the engineers and mixers, editor Kevin Hiton is also engaging with heads of department, facilities bosses and pro audio manufacturers.
