2015 TVBAwards nominations shortlist unveiled

This year’s shortlist for the TVBAwards has now been drawn up following an overwhelming influx of nominations

The shortlisted nominations for this year’s TVBAwards have been announced, with some of the leading programmes and projects from the last 12 months prominent across the revamped categories.

Coverage of the Tour de France, BBC Proms, and the UK General Election are some of the featured broadcasts to have made the shortlist, alongside less renowned projects such as the award-winning short, Knit me Some Happiness, which tested the use of drone capture to new vertical limits.

This year’s new categories covering infrastructure and TVBEverywhere have been extremely well represented, with recent achievements in asset management, archive digitisation, and social media integration being recognised alongside the more publicly visible broadcast nominations.

“I think it’s that blend of honouring frontline programming in tandem with the infrastructure that makes it happen, that gives the TVBAwards its unique edge,” explained James McKeown, TVBEurope’s executive editor. “We’ve been swamped with nominations this year, and I’m really glad to see some interesting, deserving projects being put forward. Seeing shorts like Knit me Some Happiness alongside more mainstream entries is what it’s all about, and we’re seeing that sort of variety throughout our categories.”

This year’s ceremony takes place at London’s Bloomsbury Ballroom on Thursday, 22 October, and tickets are now available from the TVBAwards website. TVBEurope will be highlighting each nomination via a series of feature articles between now and October on the TVBEurope website.
