Lawo has revealed details of its collaboration to upgrade Studio Berlin’s Hamburg site.
For a number of years, Studio Berlin’s Ü6 HDTV outside broadcast (OB) truck has served as a control room for its Hamburg facility, permanently parked at the location. With the truck no longer able to meet the production service provider’s technological requirements, the decision to establish a new, permanent control room was taken.
Aiming to increase production flexibility and streamline workflows, Studio Berlin instigated the “Ü6 Renewal” project. The new control room features Lawo AoIP solutions throughout, enabling the production of major sporting and entertainment events. Each offering 256 processing channels and 864 channels of I/O capacity, two Lawo mc²36 all-in-one audio mixing consoles with integrated Lawo A__UHD Core provide processing power in a compact set-up. With native IP connectivity and Lawo’s IP Easy technology, plug-and-play operation is supported.
Three Lawo A__mic8 stageboxes have been integrated via RAVENNA, allowing technicians to access or feed signals from anywhere in the network.
Matthias Hitz, technical director at Studio Berlin’s Hamburg location, said, “Hamburg now has two identical control rooms that can operate simultaneously, something that was previously limited. Both control rooms can now handle any production independently of the studio. The RAVENNA network allows us to route signals flexibly between the control rooms and respond quickly to any audio requirement. With these new solutions, we’ve not only met current needs but also positioned ourselves for the future. Lawo’s technology gives us the flexibility and IP-based solutions to adapt quickly and efficiently to future media production developments. We’re excited to continue our partnership and will keep relying on Lawo technologies moving forward.”
