Maono debuts ‘world first’ AI-powered hybrid microphone

Building on the success of previous Kickstarter campaigns, the PD500W incorporates features shaped by community feedback

Maono has announced the launch of its PD500W microphone, featuring hybrid connectivity, 32-bit float internal recording protection and AI-powered content workflow.

Designed to meet the needs of podcasters, streamers, video creators and more, the PD500W supports USB-C XLR and 2.4GHz wireless connectivity, and represents what the company said is the world’s first AI-powered hybrid mic.

Adapting to multiple environments, the PD500W’s wireless receivers support compatible USB-C devices while direct USB-C connections aim to simplify computer-based recording and XLR integration enables interoperability with existing audio interfaces.

The device features 32GB of internal storage with 32-bit float recording. Audio can be recorded directly while being simultaneously transmitted to another device, ensuring robust content backup across a number of use cases. A dedicated -9dB safety track captures a lower-level version of the recording to safeguard against clipping or distortion from unexpected volume spikes.

A range of intelligent audio processing tools includes AI-powered adaptive AGC, a digital de-popper and built-in limiters, helping to manage vocal level fluctuations, reduce plosive sounds and minimise the risk of overload.

Maono plans to expand the workflow experience with forthcoming updates to MaonoLink software, including AI-powered transcription, summarisation and translation tools, transforming spoken content into searchable text, highlights and multilingual assets.
