Raycom and AntennaWave have announced a partnership and the launch of a new Sub-GHz bodyworn antenna.
Using AntennaWare’s patented BodyWave technology, the new system aims to extend range and reliability into the Sub-GHz bandwidth. Designed to provide robust wireless links for audio content acquisition in what the companies call “challenging” scenarios, the form factor works alongside current UHF transmitter packs for film and TV production.
As a solution to transmission problems such as absorption and detuning when antennas are used close to the body, the BodyWave technology adds up to 20dB of signal gain for virtually any bodyworn radio mic TX pack, said the companies, providing robust transmission on set or at live locations.
Pyers Easton, CEO of Raycom, commented, “The use of BodyWave in this new antenna can be the ultimate get out of jail card. Reliable audio transmission is vital to avoid costly delays in production. This clever little antenna works with the body rather than fighting against it, also preventing the huge losses when the TX antenna is on the ‘wrong’ side of the wearer relative to the receiver. The peace of mind provided from BodyWave will be welcomed in the film and TV industry the world over.”
AntennaWare CEO, Gareth Conway, added, “We are delighted to partner with Raycom for this application and have BodyWave used in these highly prestigious applications. We met at IBC2023 and quickly realised the massive benefits for these mission critical applications”.
