Sky’s innovation team testing Nvidia’s AI-powered microservices

Sky is trialling Nvidia's new Media2 AI-powered initiative to test creating on-screen summaries during live sport

Richard Kerris, VP and GM of Media and Entertainment for Nvidia, has revealed the company is working with Sky on lab testing NVIDIA NIM microservices and partner models for its global platforms.

As part of a blog post announcing the company’s new AI-powered initiative, Media2, Kerris wrote that the work with Sky could “lead to greater interactivity and accessibility for customers around the world, such as enabling the use of voice commands to request summaries during live sports and access other contextual information.”

Sky is trialling using Nvidia’s VLM NIM alongside on-premise LLMs to create summaries which can be shown on-screen on its Sky Glass TV set.

Nvidia Media2 is built on technologies including Nvidia NIM microservices and AI Blueprints. It uses AI to drive the creation of “smarter, more tailored and more impactful content” that can adapt to individual viewer preferences, said Kerris.
