Korea-based Naver Cloud has unveiled an AI video assistant which automatically analyses various types of information from videos, including people, actions, backgrounds and audio with AI to generate metadata.
Media AI Understanding (MAIU) allows users to quickly find the scene they want with just a text search. According to the company, the tool will enable broadcasters, video production companies, YouTubers, and short-form content creators to reduce repetitive editing time.

Naver Cloud claims that typically, one entertainment programme would take around 32 hours for the editing team to analyse and produce a rough edit. It says that with MAIU, this can be reduced to less than 2 hours.
The time reduction is down to MAUI’s ability to analyse content based on the scene, compared to traditional AI tools, which are generally limited to detection or object recognition at the frame level.
“In other words, since it analyses based on the flow of the story in terms of composition, rather than the frame or shot unit, it can provide a more intuitive structure,” said the company.
Speaking about the tool, Sungmoo Kyung, head of Naver Cloud Platform Planning, said: “The rapidly growing video industry is one of the fields with the most anticipated innovation through cloud transition and active adoption of AI technology.
“We will strive to satisfy the diverse needs of customers and lead innovation in the video industry with an end-to-end media service that encompasses the entire process from content production, editing, distribution, and management, including AI video analysis services.”
